Bio
I am a Volcanologist, and to become one I have been living, studying, and working all over the world. I will join MEAS as an Assistant Professor in the Spring of 2021. I am also very passionate about Science Communication and Outreach, and I am always happy to answer questions and to talk about my life as a Volcanologist.
Education
Ph.D. Geological Sciences University of Missouri-Columbia 2018
M.Sc. Geological Sciences University of Pisa 2013
B.Sc. Geological Sciences University of Pavia 2011
Area(s) of Expertise
My research focus is lava rheology. By understanding how lava moves, we can gain valuable insight into how far it will flow and how fast it will get there. This information can help us mitigate risk for the 500 million people living nearby active volcanoes worldwide.
I am mainly an experimentalist, but the vast majority of my work starts in the field on erupting or recently active volcanoes.
