Sharks in a Changing Sea

Globally, sand tiger shark populations have experienced significant declines, and some populations are now considered critically endangered. The North Carolina Aquariums are working to expand our understanding of this shark’s ecology, behavior and habitat use by working with scientists and partner organizations to conduct sand tiger shark research. Join us to learn more about how Spot A Shark USA engages NC State undergraduate students, scientists, SCUBA divers and underwater photographers in sand tiger shark research.
This program will feature a screening of the documentary film, Sharks in a Changing Sea: Stories from the Depths and the People Who Know Them, followed by Q&A and a discussion of student opportunities at CMAST. Representatives from the NC State Marine Science Club and the Raleigh Diving Club will also share information.
Be sure to also check out the Swimming with Sharks immersive exhibit in the Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery.
