Bio
Hello! My name is Jason Jones and I am a post doc in the Geoscience Learning Process Research Group here at NCSU lead by David McConnell. Our group researches the most affective teaching and learning practices for geoscience education at a number of levels; from the student’s cognitive perspective to course design to faculty professional development. Personally, I am currently studying the effect of empirical measures of students’ metacognitive processes on their level of self-regulated learning and achievement within the context of introductory geoscience courses at the undergraduate level. Prior to coming to NCSU, I received my bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Kansas in addition to earning a secondary level Earth and Space Science teaching certificate and conducting undergraduate research in geoscience education. In regards to the non-academic facets of my life, I enjoy my time as a husband, father, professional multi-instrumentalist, and soccer (football) enthusiast (GGMU).
