Bio
I am a marine social scientist who studies people’s relationships with marine and coastal spaces, focusing on how communities develop strategies to respond to and navigate changes in these environments. Our research group has projects across the Wider-Caribbean and the southeastern United States.
I am committed to conducting research that generates actionable science that supports the well-being and development of local communities. My research primarily uses community-based approaches that center the voices of those directly affected by environmental and social change.

Area(s) of Expertise
My research primarily explores human-environment interactions in coastal and marine systems. I am interested in understanding the factors that influence individual and collective decision-making in response to socio-ecological change. My research currently explores three main themes:
(1) non-monetary drivers of decision-making in natural resource management
(2) social acceptance of climate change solutions
(3) resilience in coastal communities
I have explored these themes across a range of areas including marine renewable energy, small-scale fisheries, marine spatial planning, fisheries governance and management, and carbon dioxide removal.
