The Research Image Contest Returns in New Exhibits This Fall

This summer, NC State’s 2nd annual Research Image Contest showed us the unexpected beauty to be found in carpet beetles, polymer crystals and beating zebrafish hearts.

These stunning images are returning to the spotlight this fall in two exhibits: a physical one at the NC State Crafts Center and a digital version on the Hunt Library Commons Wall. The Commons Wall display will run November 2-15, and will become part of the regular rotation thereafter.

Funded by the NC State Graduate School and the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development with support from the College of Sciences and University Communications, the Research Image Contest is intended to highlight the beauty in science and the role of creativity in research.

The 2017 contest was open to staff and faculty in addition to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. A total of 13 winners were selected from 92 submissions in four categories: graphics and illustration, photography, microscopy, and video.
