Paul Liu, professor in the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and director of international affairs for the College of Sciences, has successfully completed his 2024-2025 term as a Provost Faculty Fellow. As part of the Global Leadership Track cohort — alongside fellow NC State faculty Kathryn Boys and Seth Murray — Liu investigated strategies to deepen NC State’s international research integration and elevate its worldwide visibility.

The team conducted comparative studies of peer institutions, both nationally and internationally, and interviewed over 20 university and college leaders across campus. Their research highlighted successful initiatives as well as ongoing challenges in NC State’s international research efforts.  In their final presentation to Provost Warwick Arden and senior administrators, they presented data-driven recommendations to enhance the university’s international reputation and impact.

The Provost’s Faculty Fellows Program empowers faculty to address critical institutional priorities through interdisciplinary collaboration. Learn more about the program.
